Interior Designer - Warwickshire - up to £40,000 (V04198)

A new role has arisen with the F&B division of our client who designs imaginative hospitality environments for major brands and chains. As a well-established middle weight designer, you would be working alongside the Design Manager in delivery of a fast paced, deadline driven roll-out refurbishment programme.

You will need to be confident is guiding both freelance and internal interior designers in concise drawing delivery. The role would entail ongoing guidance within the team, assisting the design manager with checking drawing packages and presentations to the client.

Our client are designers and makers of sculptural lighting, furniture and artworks. They are commissioned by celebrated interior decorators, collectors and discerning private individuals worldwide and are currently recruiting for a Senior Design Estimator to join their growing team.

As the Senior Design Estimator your remit is to effectively research and select the best practice processes, materials and suppliers for the purpose of manufacturing company designs. Your goal is to ensure maximum profitability for the company with the combination of affordability and outstanding quality for the customer. You will be expected to have a good rapport with all stakeholders in the business both in-house, and externally with suppliers to maintain and develop good working relationships. 


Key Responsibilities also include to:

  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time and raw material, equipment, and labour expenses to prepare and submit RRP quotations for the Sales Team.
  • Understand a supplier’s capabilities through research and visits to gather information on materials and outsourcing.
  • Use internal ERP system to calculate estimates.
  • Read off-plan and CAD technical documents to prepare estimates.
  • Recommend ways to make a product more profitable while improving or maintaining quality and client expectations.


Skills and Experience expected for the Senior Design Estimator role:

  • Experience of costing, budgeting and design within the manufacturing of interior products for the (ideally) high-end design sector.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
  • Numerate with good Microsoft Office skills and able to administrate a database.
  • Degree qualified.
  • Analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

They have created a new role for a Furniture Designer with the potential for the position to develop into so much more for the right person. You will be working on fitted kitchens, tables, dressing rooms and home bars.
 
This role can be based near their workshop in Wiltshire or up near the Harrogate office. If Harrogate then the role can be hybrid.

This Architectural and Interior Design Practice specialises within the residential marketplace with a full D&B offering including architectural services alongside interior design and their own dedicated showroom for furniture, furnishings, accessories and tiling.

They are currently looking to recruit both an Interior Architect and an Interior Designer to work on a variety of residential projects in and around the Knightsbridge, Chelsea and Fulham areas as well as the Rickmansworth and Northwood areas.


Interior Architect:

  • 5 to 7 years (for a Midweight) or 10+ years of experience (for a Senior level)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp, ideally also with Revit
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experienced in designing spatial and furniture layouts, lighting and electrical designs, kitchen and bathroom designs, wardrobes and joinery designs, tiling designs

Interior Designer:

Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques. Projects include dressing rooms, staircases and libraries, cinemas, wine rooms and games rooms.

They are seeking a full time, experienced Design Engineer and also a Furniture Draughtsperson. For both roles they are looking for individuals who are able to draw on their experience in the furniture and joinery industry to support and steer the design and technical phases of projects and to engineer work which is fit for manufacture, assembly and installation. The distinction between the roles being that the Draughtsperson will be mainly producing the technical drawings and the Design Engineer will be working with the draughting team to review and refine design intent and engineer for efficient manufacture.


Skills and Experience sought for the Furniture Design Engineer and Draughtsperson roles:

  • Excellent communication skills in order to capably discuss and establish design principles from a client’s brief
  • A good working knowledge of furniture and joinery constructional methods, and manufacturing processes
  • Self-motivated, flexible and proactive

This is a hands-on role with tasks which could include: CAD drawing, carpentry, metalworking, head rigger, spray painting, scenic finishes, paint management, general production build, CAD interpretation, CNC & Laser cutter operation, vinyling, prop making, installation crewing, lead carpenter, sanding, filling & finishing.
 
The role includes development of practical skills including scenic, LX, sound and electronics and working in line with the Company sustainability policy, ensuring minimising wastage and organise off cuts of production material for use on subsequent jobs. Health & Safety compliance is essential as is quality control for all projects.
 
This position is based on set hours per week as there needs to be some flexibility as this industry often needs you to work different hours on-site dependant on the project. Salary will be £28k pa based on 40 hours per week plus BUPA and pension.
 
Skills and Experience needed from the Production Team / Assistant Workshop Manager:
  • Scenic and paint knowledge, carpentry and construction skills would be useful
  • Good time keeping and communication skills, and be able to work with an adaptable, flexible and accommodating attitude
  • Proactive with an enthusiastic, self-motivated and positive disposition and must be able to work well as part of a team
