Person / Experience Required:

• Background from a theatre based course ideally
• Experience in Project / Production Management, Stage Management, Event Management and/or Technical Theatre
• Project Management skills including working with a production workshop
• Full clean driving licence
• Able to manage and realise projects from costings for budgets through to installation
• Must be able to effectively liaise with and manage clients and their expectations
• Ability to maintain a high level of quality control along with a cost effective, best practice and ecological approach

This manufacturer creates joinery pieces for some of the finest and advanced commercial interiors being designed in the UK today. Operating nationwide from their factory and offices just outside London, they offer total management of joinery packages, from initial site survey through to installation.

They are currently seeking an experienced Technical Designer to work with their progressive team of designers and makers.

Objectives / Requirements:

• Creating concept designs, rendering in KeyShot and turning them into ready-to-manufacture technical drawings for the in-house joinery workshop
• Producing complete and checked technical drawings using Solid Edge 3D design software (Fluency in SolidWorks will be considered)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Accuracy in take offs for CNC milling and other outsourced material production will also be required directly from the CAD drawings
• Connecting with joiners to discuss and get feedback on the practicality of joinery items designed, so hands-on experience from the joinery sector is needed and hands-on knowledge of manufacturing and assembling would be desirable
• A genuine interest in the marketplace and a willingness to take part in interdepartmental discussions

Competitive remuneration and paid over-time. 22 days holiday increasing by 1 day every 2 years to a maximum of 25 days. Lunch is provided by the company and there is parking space on the premises.

A vacancy has arisen for a Surface Pattern & Print Designer to join this well-established brand that keeps a close eye on seasonal trends and who will be excited about creating new designs across their home textiles category.

The successful applicant will be innovative and hard-working and happy to work collaboratively with other departments creating original surface pattern and print designs that can be utilised across a wide range of product categories. The SPP Designer will be responsible for understanding and developing range content that creates a unique own brand range for their customers and there will be travel throughout the UK and abroad including the Far East on a regular basis.

They are also considering recruiting a Junior SPP Designer who will be assisting the SPP Designer.

Person / Experience Required:

• Surface Pattern / Print / Textiles degree and 5 + years' experience in home textiles design
• Proven experience in the Retail Industry.
• Excellent surface pattern and print design skills
• Excellent drawing skills for illustration creation
• Proficient at using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Must have detailed understanding of substrates and manufacturing
• Proven experience in developing profitable product ranges covering multiple categories for each season

SMC are looking for a Senior Interior Designer and Project Manager to expand their current creative team as client work load increases.

As a Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager you would have successfully lead a team from inception to completion for a period of 10 years, demonstrating your proven skills at delivering exceptional design, with experience of working on site. Educated to degree or diploma level, applicable knowledge of project management methodologies would be advantageous.

Skills:

• Ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the skill of using colour and texture
• Advanced skills in VectorWorks, Photoshop, SketchUp and MS Office
• Knowledge of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)

SMC Design are now recruiting for a Midweight FF&E Interior Designer with 2-3 years' FF&E experience to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative FF&E Designer to work on high-end marine interior design projects, liaising with suppliers and working to a client's needs and aspirations. Project involvement is from conception through to completion, and the candidate will join projects at a variety of stages along the way to form this dynamic and fast-paced role.

Experience in delivering FF&E packages for large-scale commercial projects (eg hotels/cruise ships) is essential, as well as impeccable organisational, research and communication skills.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Excel, and confidence in using an Apple Mac computer. Familiarity with navigating VectorWorks is a bonus but not essential.
• An extensive understanding of finishes, furniture and lighting, with a fantastic eye for the finer details.
• Experience completing specifications to a high standard of clarity.
• An ability to interpret a brief and design schemes for a wide variety of clients tastes, brand identities or requirements.
• An ability to research for and create strong mood boards.
• An ability to create sample boards for client presentations.
• An ability to work as part of a larger team, but also independently on projects where required.
• An ability to hit the ground running and be self motivated, supported by their previous experience taking ownership of the FF&E on projects.
• Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, for succinctly communicating concepts and information to a variety of people involved in the project: in house, external 3D visual artists, clients and contractors. Strong English is essential.
