They are now currently recruiting for a CAD Design Technician to work on the production of designs and drawings for manufacturing and client approval. Each member of the team is expected to be adaptable and inventive, learning and developing the variety of house style processes and finishes.

Duties and Responsibilities of the CAD Design Technician include:

• Creating custom drawings from the standard product range and developing bespoke designs
• Translating specifications into detailed accurate manufacturing drawings
• Checking approved prototypes against technical manufacturing drawings and assisting in the drafting of accurate and detailed installation guides
• Liaising with fabrication and finishing departments to ensure client briefs and expectations are fulfilled
• Compiling Photoshop imagery and producing good quality renders

Skills and Experience needed for the CAD Design Technician:

• Degree in Product Design, Architecture or comparable
• Ideally 2 years' experience already gained on technical drawings for products (a work placement will count)
• Autodesk software such as AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Fusion 360 and/or Inventor
• Rendering using Blender, KeyShot or similar
• Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
• General Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 They are now looking to increase their specifying team with a Furniture Specifier who will be working on a variety of Show Home designs in line with each of the clients’ briefs. Alongside a designer, you will be planning the layouts and sourcing the latest in design led furniture.

 Key Responsibilities include:

• Working to a design brief to specify, spatially arrange, plan and cost furniture
• Keeping up to date with furniture suppliers, trends and creative solutions
• Creating and maintaining budget / costing sheets using Excel
• Maintaining job files with any changes from original presentation / design

 Skill and experience needed for this role: 

• Experience of working with different furniture suppliers and styles
• Proficient in Excel with knowledge of VectorWorks / AutoCAD preferred
• Evidence of a creative, design led background and relevant qualifications
• Planned and organised with good attention to detail
• An eye for proportion / colour / balance design and good 3D awareness

Our client is a small family run Bespoke Kitchen Design Business that pride themselves in their attention to detail and quality of their work making the kitchen the multi-tasking hub of the home.

Looking at the growth of the business and a busy order book they are now seeking a Designer to work alongside the Principal Designer and Director. This will primarily involve: producing 3D renders for client presentations along with arranging samples and sourcing materials; producing 2D technical drawings for manufacturing; placing orders; arranging appointments and communicating with clients.

Skills and Experience needed for the Technical Kitchen Designer:

• You will have a keen eye for design and an interest in kitchens and fitted furniture
• 1-2 years of experience within a kitchen or joinery design company (UK-based)
• A degree in Interior Architecture, Product Design or Interior Design is also preferred, but really strong CAD skills and a diligent worker is key
• Conversant with AutoCAD and familiarity with Virtual Worlds or SketchUp an advantage
• Very good written and spoken English

Hours: 9am-5:30pm (1hr lunch). Salary is £20k - £25k (negotiable) and they are open to the Technical Kitchen Designer working either a 4 or 5 day week.

This company is a specialist in the interior architecture of historical and period properties and work directly with their clients who come to them for their expertise and beautiful pieces of furniture, joinery and workmanship.

With a busy order book they are currently recruiting for an experienced and technically minded Furniture Designer who, as their Project Designer,  can produce detailed furniture drawings, 2D CAD layouts, 3D elevations and drawings. The role will be starting from taking the initial agreed conceptual design and sketch through building the projects on AutoCAD incorporating different materials and integrated appliances, lisaising with artisans for special crafted pieces through to working with the production engineers and workshop to installation.

You could be working on anything from panelling, architraves and flooring to libraries, bootrooms, scullerys, laundries and kitchens.

Skills and Experience needed for the Furniture Designer:

• AutoCAD experience and ideally 3D using Inventor or SolidWorks
• Cabinet Maker's or Joiner's background with a good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, materials selection and presentation
• Experience already gained in industry as a furniture designer on fitted furniture and/or architectural joinery
• Able to work from sketches and specification sheets and to interpret technical requirements and design briefs
• Experience of Interior measured surveying is desirable
• A good knowledge of timber, joinery, wood veneers, finishes and finishing techniques
• A good understanding of furniture and period joinery detailing, with knowledge of period architectural styles and building techniques an advantage
• Knowledge of quality kitchen appliances and sanitary ware

A great full time opportunity has arisen for a CAD Setting Out Draughtsperson to work on bespoke joinery projects.

At Chamber Furniture, we combine the finest materials with outstanding craftsmanship, and a host of clever details and features for all our fitted furniture and joinery throughout the home.

Due to a steady increase in business we require an experienced person to produce Setting Out Drawings and Production Cutting Lists for the manufacturing of bespoke high end joinery including Kitchens, Bedrooms, Studies and Wine Rooms.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Joinery Fitter, have had experience working as a Bench Joiner and/or have experience producing Setting Out Drawings and creating Cutting Lists. You will need to be computer literate and familiar with CAD packages. Full training will be provided for the right candidate which may include a period of working alongside our current installers and bench joiners as required.

Working as part of a Drawing Office team and Furniture Designers the CAD Setting Out Draughtsperson will be based at our Factory and Showroom in Halstead, Kent.

They are seeking a Production Manager who understands what is required to work at this level of the industry and is forward thinking and very proactive.

Key Responsibilities for the Production Manager include to: 

• Oversee the design and production of gallery pieces from concept stage through to manufacture including material and component specifications, production of prototypes and drawings
• Plan and draw up a production schedule, monitor the production processes and set and control the quality standards
• Manage supplier relationships such as budgets, negotiating costs, sourcing and contacting suppliers
• Liaise with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. suppliers, managers, clients

 A large part of the job is dealing with people and resource management, you may also be involved with furniture design and purchasing.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a flourishing Nottingham based company specialising in the design, manufacture and retail of furniture, lighting and interior accessories.

Freelance, part time or full time employment is available depending upon the situation and availability of the individual. You must have extensive knowledge of cabinet furniture and/or upholstery design (including an understanding of frame construction and foam specifications). Experience of lighting design would be beneficial but is not essential.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified with substantial experience of designing and developing furniture for an established furniture retailer. A sound knowledge of the history of design and a keen eye for emerging trends is central to this role, as is having a broad awareness of the international Interior Product marketplace.

The role will include:

• Research and concept development
• Design visualisation and presentation
• Technical drawing and product development
• Liaising with factories to develop designs into prototypes
• Approving samples prior to final production

This is a fast paced environment, therefore the ability to deliver appropriate, original designs within tight deadlines is essential.

We are looking for a creative designer with a strong work ethic. Someone who is open minded with good organisational and problem solving skills. Also a positive hands on approach with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Very good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications will be needed. Also a good working knowledge of SketchUp, Fusion 360, Solid Works, AutoCAD or similar packages in order to create technical drawings and product visualisations. Good hand drawing skills would be useful but is not essential.

Occasional overseas travel will be expected. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
